Pharmaceutics, Drug Formulation and Delivery
I am a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutics, Drug Formulation and Delivery at the University of Birmingham. I have extensive expertise in the design, development and manufacture of both implantable drug delivery devices and nanoparticles. I also have extensive expertise in the solubility enhancement of poorly soluble drugs. I have been involved in the development of a number of drug delivery devices and formulations that have been evaluated in the clinic, one of which is currently in Phase III clinical testing.
Existing collaborations relevant to drug delivery
I have a number of collaborations with academic, clinical and industry partners. I am collaborating with Athlone institute of Technology as well as the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham on the 3D printing of implantable devices.
I am also collaborating with Prof Garth Cruickshank, Prof Colin Watts and Dr Andrew Peet at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital on the local delivery of drugs to the brain for the treatment of brain tumours.
I am collaborating with Foster Delivery Science, Evonik, QPharma, Extruded Pharmaceuticals and ProMed Pharma on the GMP manufacture of implantable devices.
