Research projects in my lab fall under cancer cell biology, endocytosis and drug delivery, concentrating on linking knowledge of endocytosis to enhance our capacity to deliver therapeutics to defined regions of cells. We actively collaborate with a number of national and international groups. My group has published widely within the fields of endocytosis and drug delivery especially within the remit of early endosomal traffic and the utilization of a variety of delivery systems for enhancing the cellular delivery of therapeutic molecules. These include systems based on polymers, peptides, exosomes and antibodies. I currently sit on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Controlled Release, Membranes, The Young Darwinian and Gwerddon.
Existing collaborations relevant to drug delivery
Work package leader in a €30M FP7 Innovative Medicine Initiative (IMI-EFPIA) consortium (COMPACT www.compact-research.org/). This represents a public-private collaboration between 14 European academic institutes and pharmaceutical companies aiming to improve the cellular delivery of biopharmaceuticals across major biological barriers of the intestine, lung, blood brain barrier and skin.
